Enabling Process Platform to Run in Standalone or Network Mode

This topic describes the procedure to enable Process Platform to run either in Standalone or Network mode.

The Network Configuration utility of Management Console enables Process Platform to work either with network connectivity or in a stand-alone mode. This is useful in cases where the network connectivity may be temporarily unavailable, and Process Platform needs to function as a stand-alone system. Running Process Platform in a standalone mode requires that all the Process Platform related components including OpenText CARS, are running on the local host.

Management Console provides the list of NICs and the IP addresses using the network interface. The network card chosen during installation is displayed in the Network Configuration page, and if required you can modify it in this page.

  1. In a Windows based computer, click Start > Programs > OpenText Process Suite Platform <Version> > <Instance Name> > Tools > Management Console.
    For Linux users
    1. Launch Terminal
    2. CD Process Platform Installation Directory/bin
    3. Execute ./cmc.sh

    The Management Console window appears.

  2. Click Network Configuration option in the Management Console window. The Network Configuration page appears.
  3. Do one of the following.
    • Enable Standalone Configuration - Select it to enable Process Platform to work in a Standalone mode. In this mode, you can access Process Platform through the following URL: http://localhost/home
    • Disable Standalone Configuration - Select it to enable Process Platform to work in a Network mode. In this mode, you can access Process Platform in any of the following ways:
      • http://IP address/home
Note: By default, there is a network card or NIC plugged in for every machine enabling a network connection. If your machine is configured with multiple network cards, they are listed in the Interface Display Name list. However, if you intend to connect through other network cards, select Disable Standalone Configuration option, and select a Network Interface from the list.
  4. Save the changes and restart the OpenText Process Suite Platform (<instance name>), OpenText CARS, and Webserver for the modifications to be effective.
